47 Hour

 

 

Stage One – Classroom (three sessions)

TITLE – Range Instruction

OBJECTIVES

       I.      Introduction

    II.      Safety Procedures

 III.      Storage of guns  & ammunition

  IV.      Nomenclature of firearms and ammunition

     V.      Safe cleaning & inspection of firearms

  VI.      Safe & efficient removal & replacement to carry system

VII.      Proper loading, unloading & uncocking

VIII.      Proper sight adjustment and trajectory

  IX.      Shooting fundamentals – grip, stance, breath control, sight alignment, area hold, trigger control

     X.      Qualification course of fire –

¥       Dry fire preparation

¥       Individual gun examination

¥       Proper & safe functioning & handling

¥       Proper firing positions – standing, kneeling, sitting & prone, point shooting & hip shooting

¥       Night firing techniques

¥       Weak hand shooting

  XI.      Selection of firearm relevant to location & type of incident

XII.      Factors too be considered appropriate to draw firearm

XIII.      Verbal commands – on duty & on range

 

Stage Two – Classroom (one session)

TITLE – USE OF Force / Deadly Physical Force – (Penal Law Article 35)

OBJECTIVES

       I.      Instruction covering the use & justification of the use of force by a security guard, as it pertains to the utilization of D/P/F

 

Stage Three - Range (one session)

TITLE – USE OF Force / Deadly Physical Force – (Penal Law Article 35)

OBJECTIVES

       I.      Qualification practice – (200 rounds, approx.)

    II.      Qualification – (100 rounds)

 

Stage Four - Classroom (one session)

TITLE – Review & Examination

OBJECTIVES

       I.      Successful completion of written examination consisting of multiple choice question written by The James Dinan School and fully screened and approved by New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services, Bureau of Municipal Police.
